Poll: Trump's Welcoming of Cryptocurrency May Earn Him More Votes
According to ChainCatcher news and a report by CoinDesk, a recent poll sponsored by Paradigm, released on Wednesday, shows that former President Donald Trump has recently welcomed cryptocurrency after a long-standing skepticism, a shift that could earn him some reluctant support from Republican voters. The poll also indicates that as the presumed Republican presidential candidate, Trump's series of positive remarks about the U.S. cryptocurrency industry has caught the attention of some voters. 13% of those who initially did not plan to vote for Trump have developed a more favorable view of him due to his stance on cryptocurrency. Meanwhile, a majority of respondents (60%) believe that Congress needs to create regulations for cryptocurrency businesses, as Republicans generally dislike the way the current financial system operates. This poll, conducted among over 1,000 potential Republican voters, took place in mid-June, well ahead of the television debates. Trump is expected to easily secure the party's nomination in this year's primaries, with the Republican National Convention set to take place next week to formally announce this. The survey also found that more than a quarter of the surveyed Republicans have engaged with cryptocurrency. Overall, this year's voter sentiment poll shows a complex impression of cryptocurrency, with Republicans holding a slightly more positive view than negative (36% to 30%), but a margin of error of 3.5% introduces some uncertainty to these levels.
