Analyst: Emerging market currencies will rise moderately due to Harris's victory and fall due to Trump's victory
ChainCatcher news, Ebury market strategist Matthew Ryan said that if Harris wins the U.S. presidential election, emerging market currencies are expected to rise moderately; if Trump wins, emerging market currencies will weaken. If Harris wins, "emerging market currencies will receive a moderate boost, especially those Asian currencies closely related to the Chinese economy," the strategist said, particularly the South Korean won, Thai baht, and Malaysian ringgit are expected to rise. With reduced security risks in Europe, European currencies may also appreciate. If Trump wins, Asian currencies will broadly decline as investors prepare for rising U.S. interest rates, a rise in protectionism, and a more erratic foreign policy.
