Welcome to participate in and experience the CESS testnet!

2024.8.5~2024.8.11

CESS is a decentralized cloud storage network and CD²N network based on blockchain, supporting online data storage and real-time sharing, providing a full-stack solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3.

The CESS data value network is built on the DePIN concept as a Layer 1 infrastructure, featuring decentralization, efficiency, security, privacy, and scalability. CESS supports large-scale commercial storage and can accommodate phenomenal decentralized applications (dApps); CESS enables data monetization and the free flow/sharing of data value, while achieving user data privacy protection and data sovereignty returning to data owners in a trustless manner, thereby constructing a prosperous, diverse, and sovereign data asset economy.

CESS Project Development

Overview

This week, issues such as the inability of CESS Node to verify TEE Worker signatures and conflicts in the renaming of the territory module have been fixed; this week, commands for adding staking and increasing storage space for storage nodes have been upgraded, and issues causing commands to fail to execute effectively due to various factors have been resolved; this week, issues with DeOSS and DeShare not being able to upload and download user files normally have also been fixed.

1. Blockchain Network

The CESS testnet v0.7.6 consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node) and serve as the "data certification station" (by TEE Worker) within the CESS network. Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and act as the "data storage pool" in the CESS network. Here are the updates for this week:

Consensus Nodes [v0.7.7]

(1) Deployed 10 new CESS Nodes to ensure the stable operation of the testnet;

(2) Fixed issues where signatures could not be effectively parsed and verified due to some TEE Workers not updating their codebase;

(3) Fixed the naming conflict issue in the CESS Node territory module renaming function due to the lack of uniqueness checks;

(4) Reduced the transaction gas fees for CESS Nodes to prevent excessive consumption of account balances due to frequent transaction submissions;

Storage Nodes [v0.7.11]

(1) Fixed the issue where storage nodes could not effectively increase staking due to unconverted token units;

(2) Fixed the issue where increasing storage space failed when the staking account and signing account of the storage node were inconsistent;

2. Products

CESS is committed to providing practical storage services and CD²N services for Web3, meeting large-scale commercial storage needs and achieving millisecond-level data retrieval and return. CESS has pioneered decentralized object storage services (DeOSS), and the product ecosystem of the CESS network is gradually becoming richer and more prosperous. Currently, innovative applications such as online file sharing tools (DeShare), public chain snapshot storage services, and CESS cloud storage have been incubated. We welcome you to experience them. Here are the updates for this week:

Object Storage Service (DeOSS)

(1) Fixed the issue where DeOSS could not upload user files normally due to network connection anomalies;

(2) Fixed the issue where DeOSS could not download user file shards from remote storage nodes;

(3) Fixed the issue where lightweight cache nodes could not interact with the working protocol smart contract;

Online File Sharing Tool (DeShare)

(1) Fixed the issue where DeShare could not download files uploaded by users normally;

3. Feedback and Support

(1) Your feedback is crucial! Please submit issues in CIPs (https://github.com/CESSProject/CIPs) and share your thoughts with us! If you are interested in CESS, you can connect with developers in the CESS developer community (https://github.com/CESSProject). We welcome you to share your experiences at any time!

CESS Testnet Progress

(1) According to data from CESS Scan (https://scan.cess.network/), as of August 11, the CESS testnet v0.7.7 Venus version has been live for 11 days, with over 4250 storage nodes successfully registered and 21 consensus nodes, providing a total storage space of 29.32 PiB, with verified storage space of 3.53 PiB. Test users encountering issues while building nodes can seek help in the official CESS Discord (https://discord.gg/cess).

(2) The latest incentive testnet Venus officially launched on July 31, 2024! The testnet incentive activities are ongoing, and participating storage nodes will earn points that can be exchanged for mainnet CESS Tokens. The total incentives will be determined based on the effective storage capacity of miners at the end of this version of the testnet. For detailed incentive rules, please refer to the article “CESS Officially Launches Testnet Venus, Innovating Decentralized Storage + CD²N”. For details on the final miner node test score rewards from the last round, please see (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18HIJaJ74t5CVqPIEa7dtIKvD-kniVYvg_VhPwJJES3Y/edit?gid=0#gid=0).

(3) CESS invites you to join the IEEE P3233 international standard release conference! In February this year, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) approved the industry standard proposal P3233 "Blockchain-based Distributed Storage Protocol Specification" submitted by CESS. To further promote the development of this industry standard, CESS will co-host the launch meeting with IEEE. (For details, see the article “Invitation | IEEE P3233 International Standard Release Conference”.)

(4) Last Saturday, CESS hosted an X Space event themed "Web3 Venture Capital Trends: What Are Investors Looking For". We invited guests from various industry investment institutions and innovative projects, including IVC, DWF Labs, Ga³in Ventures, and SFT Protocol, to share the current status and trends of the crypto industry from a venture capital perspective. CESS looks forward to seizing opportunities together with everyone and standing at the forefront.

(5) Last week, CESS cybersecurity expert Frank demonstrated online how to set up a CESS consensus node. Currently, the last round of the CESS testnet Venus is ongoing. Join us to share the rewards!

(6) CESS was invited to join TwitterSpace to discuss "DePIN --- Building Decentralized Infrastructure for the Future". Together with many DePIN project guests, we explored how decentralized infrastructure projects can leverage blockchain technology to empower various industries.

(7) CESS co-founder Nick was invited to participate in an online AMA event hosted by FoxWallet Official. This event also featured guests from SFT Protocol, Filecoin, and Titan Network, who discussed "The Future of AI and DePIN in the Blockchain Ecosystem".

(8) The CollabFest 3.0 event initiated by CESS and several innovative projects is ongoing! This event will take place from August 1 to August 31, 2024, and participants will have the chance to share over $6,000. For event details, please check CESS's official Twitter (@CESS_Storage). Don't miss out!

(9) The CESS Global Ambassador Program is ongoing! Over 631 people have applied to join. By joining the CESS Global Ambassador Program now, you can enjoy multiple benefits. Please click “CESS Global Ambassador Program: Officially Open for Applications!” for more details.
