CESS Incentive Testnet v0.6.0 is officially launched
CESS officially launched the public test of CESS Incentive Testnet v0.6.0 on July 4, 2023, at 8:00 AM (UTC 0), which is 3:00 PM Beijing time on July 4.
In the concluded v0.5.3 version, there were already 6,376 storage nodes. We thank the community for their support of CESS. In the upcoming v0.6.0, we bring many important optimizations and feature updates to the community. Below, we will detail the features of this version from the perspectives of major upgrades and optimization upgrades.
Major Upgrades:
The underlying data transmission mode has been completely upgraded, achieving direct point-to-point transmission, improving transmission speed and security.
The SGX-based TEE Worker is officially online, providing a more comprehensive and verifiable guarantee for user data security.
The file recovery mechanism is officially online, allowing the network to automatically repair damaged data through elastic recovery.
The PoDR² storage proof mechanism has added an aggregation proof feature, significantly reducing the amount of data required for verification.
The R²S consensus mechanism has been completely upgraded, supporting nodes to accumulate staking through nomination and become validators.
Optimization Upgrades:
The phased upgrade of the Substrate framework has been implemented, successfully migrating to Polkadot-v0.9.36.
The code modules for blockchain nodes and storage nodes have been rebuilt to make them more flexible, scalable, and easier to maintain.
The file upload process has been comprehensively optimized, enhancing on-chain execution efficiency and the overall stability of the CESS network.
The reward and punishment mechanism for storage nodes has been adjusted, enhancing the operational flexibility and account fault tolerance of the nodes.
The modules tested this time include storage nodes, consensus nodes (CPU needs to support SGX), decentralized object storage (DeOSS), etc. For the configuration requirements of these modules, please refer to the corresponding build guide.
The reward rules are as follows:
Storage Nodes
The testing period for CESS v0.6.0 is approximately 4 weeks, with a total reward of 6,000 points for all storage nodes, corresponding to 600,000 mainnet CESS tokens. The final points for each node will be calculated based on the percentage of the total storage power (Storage Power) occupied by that node. For example, if the total storage power of the CESS network at the end is 10,000 G, and node A has a power of 100G at the end, then node A can earn 60 points this round. The test currency TCESS required for staking can be obtained from the testnet faucet.

Please note: Only nodes with a power greater than 1G at the end of this round of testing will be considered valid nodes.

Consensus Nodes
The rewards for consensus nodes will be announced after the testing ends. Please contact the management personnel in the CESS official Telegram to apply for the required TCESS for staking.

The final points rewards for storage nodes and consensus nodes will be announced on the official CESS Twitter, and the power of storage miners will be rounded to the nearest whole number. Points will be rewarded at a ratio of 1:100 (i.e., 1 point can be exchanged for 100 CESS tokens).
