CESS Incentive Testnet v0.7.4 is officially launched
CESS officially launched the public test of CESS Incentive Testnet v0.7.4 on October 30, 2023, at 8:00 (UTC 0). So far, CESS has undergone 9 rounds of testnet upgrades, with over 6,300 nodes participating in the construction of the CESS network, and more than 30,000 nodes having participated in the test network. We sincerely thank the developers, partners, and users who have shown interest in CESS, and we also express our respect and gratitude to the miner partners who actively participated in the testing and accompanied CESS through its updates and iterations. Every piece of feedback and every suggestion has driven the optimization and iteration of the CESS network, helping CESS achieve milestone after milestone on the path of cultivating Web3 decentralized cloud storage technology and building a data value network.
In the v0.7.4 officially launched on October 30, we have made functional iterations and optimizations for the three major modules: storage nodes, consensus nodes, and decentralized object storage (DeOSS). The updates and optimizations to the random challenge mechanism for storage nodes will bring a fairer, more efficient, and transparent network construction; the updated economic model will establish a more scientific treasury revenue and expenditure channel, providing a healthy financial basis for community governance; DeOSS offers decentralized object storage services with fast read/write, high security, scalability, and privacy management for users with high-frequency dynamic data storage needs. This iteration adds features such as data encryption and decryption, user data backup, and file metadata sharing, providing developers and enterprises with a more user-friendly and flexible experience, meeting the practical needs of commercial applications for storing and sharing large amounts of valuable data.
Here are the detailed introductions to the new features and updates of CESS Incentive Testnet v0.7.4:
Storage Nodes
Added an MHT path proof optimization algorithm, significantly improving the calculation speed of path proofs, thereby enhancing the execution efficiency of each proof stage in the space proof algorithm.
Updated the interfaces related to random challenge listening and proof submission to adapt to the new random challenge mechanism.
Optimized the random challenge penalty mechanism, no longer penalizing storage nodes that do not submit idle space proofs, while storage nodes that do not submit proofs will also not receive rewards.
Adjusted the staking amount for storage nodes to 4000 TCESS/T.
Consensus Nodes
Updated the economic model, specifically: temporarily adjusting the network Gas fee to 100% going to the treasury, no longer destroying it. Added income from space purchases and node penalties to the treasury.
Upgraded to adapt to the new version of the Substrate framework.
Upgraded the random challenge trigger logic, distributing challenge triggers across various blocks to reduce the data synchronization pressure on consensus nodes.
Updated the file/bucket deletion logic to reduce the data processing pressure on the chain caused by large-scale data operations in a short time.
CESS-DeOSS (Decentralized Object Storage Service)
The go-sdk, JS-sdk, and rust-sdk have added data encryption and decryption features to meet the needs of users requiring privacy data protection. They also support cross-platform mutual encryption and decryption.
Added user data backup functionality after chain reset to prevent data loss.
Introduced file metadata sharing functionality between DeOSS to reduce duplicate uploads and downloads of the same data.
DeOSS providers can customize whether to make their IP and public key public or private. If they choose to make it public, other users can retrieve the access address and use their DeOSS services.
The reward rules for v0.7.4 are as follows:
- Storage Nodes
The total reward points for all storage nodes in CESS-v0.7.4 is 6000, corresponding to 600,000 CESS tokens. The final points for each node are calculated based on the percentage of the total storage power (Storage Power) that node occupies. For example, if the total storage power of the CESS network at the end is 10,000 G, and node A has a power of 100 G at the end, then node A can earn 60 points this round. Please go to the CESS official website to claim the required test currency TCESS.

Friendly Reminder: Only nodes with a power greater than 1 G at the end of this round of testing will be considered valid nodes.

- Consensus Nodes
Consensus nodes that run successfully and complete the entire test cycle will each receive 50 points. Please contact the management personnel in the CESS official Telegram to apply for the required TCESS.

The final points rewards for storage nodes and consensus nodes will be announced on CESS's official Twitter, and the power values of storage miners will be rounded to the nearest whole number. Points will be awarded at a ratio of 1:100 (i.e., 1 point can be exchanged for 100 CESS tokens).
