The CESS course is now open for recruitment, inviting all developers to co-build a data value network!
In the past five years, we have witnessed the rapid development of the "Web3" field. The term "Web3" was coined by Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood, representing a new era of the internet that is more secure, transparent, and fair. Specifically, Web3 achieves decentralization, reducing the influence of centralized authorities and intermediaries, empowering users with ownership and control over their data and digital identities; furthermore, the Web3 internet will also achieve interoperability, allowing users to interact seamlessly across platforms without intermediaries. This highly promising technological field has garnered significant attention from both mainstream media and emerging social media platforms, leading to widespread coverage of related topics. Even Wall Street bankers have begun to venture into the Web3 and cryptocurrency space.
As Web3 transitions from concept to practice, a series of services are moving towards decentralization, with data storage, retrieval, usage, and management being key components. Therefore, in the context of the internet revolution and the demand for data ownership and data value, CESS (Cumulus Encrypted Storage System) has emerged.
The CESS data value network is a Layer 1 infrastructure built on the DePIN concept, characterized by decentralization, efficiency, security, privacy, and scalability; as a blockchain-based decentralized cloud storage network and CDN, users can achieve on-chain data sharing through the CESS platform, while developers can develop and deploy centralized applications (dApps) within the network.
CESS supports online data storage and real-time sharing, providing a full-stack solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3. CESS supports the monetization of data and the free flow/sharing of data value, while protecting user data privacy and restoring data sovereignty to data owners in a trustless manner.
We hope to see more developers join the CESS ecosystem to jointly build a prosperous, diverse, and sovereign data asset economy. However, it is well-known that quickly mastering a new technology is not easy, especially with the varying quality of blockchain-related tutorials. To this end, we have specially created the "CESS Course" for developers, and below is a detailed introduction to the course.
CESS Course Introduction
The "CESS Course" will be a 7-week course. In this course, we have systematically organized information about CESS to help students master the relevant content from scratch:
Course Outline
The course will begin with an overview of CESS and its overall architecture, introducing students to how to participate in the CESS ecosystem as community members and use various DApps as users; it will delve into software development, helping developers create and deploy two types of smart contracts on CESS; provide demonstrations on building fully functional DApps end-to-end, where smart contracts and front-end can interact; and showcase how to run storage miner nodes and consensus miner nodes, among other key topics.
Weekly course learning will include but not be limited to the following content:
We will prepare a series of videos for students to learn, accompanied by corresponding assignments to reinforce learning outcomes. Students will interact with others and instructors through the course Discord channel.
There will also be 1 hour of Office Hour each week, where instructors will interact with students to answer questions.
Starting from Week 4, students will form teams freely to build team projects. At the end of Week 7, everyone will submit their innovative projects and create a short video to showcase them.
Here is the 7-week course outline.
Course Dates
January 29 to March 17 (7 weeks)
Course Instructors
Jimmy Chu
Jimmy Chu, a full-stack programmer and operations engineer by background. He believes that blockchain will drive the next wave of technological revolution and is interested in theoretical technologies such as cryptography. He has deepened his work in the Polkadot ecosystem, focusing on blockchain layer technology expansion and developing a series of product prototypes using the Substrate framework. During his tenure at a Layer 2 crypto startup integrating Polkadot and Ethereum ecosystems, his blockchain technology and practice further expanded. Currently, Jimmy Chu is exploring the cutting-edge field of zero-knowledge proofs, continuously enhancing his comprehensive abilities in blockchain development and construction.
Alex Liu
Alex Liu, an experienced software engineer, focuses on artificial intelligence and machine learning. He later joined the blockchain development industry, actively contributing to various innovative projects. After joining CESS, he has focused on technical areas such as SGX trusted execution environments and algorithm complexity. Currently, he is dedicated to promoting collaboration among CESS developers and facilitating efficient communication among team members and ecosystem participants to help expand the influence of the CESS ecosystem.
Post-Course Arrangements
Students will interact with other students and instructors through the course Discord channel. There will be one hour of Office Hour each week, where students can ask questions online and receive real-time feedback from instructors.
CESS Course Target Audience
You should have at least 2-3 years of programming experience. However, it does not matter which field of programming you are in! We believe that as long as you are willing to learn and put in the effort, you can master the technical knowledge. This course will use programming languages such as Solidity, Rust, ink!, and Javascript.
After Completing the "CESS Course," You Will Gain
Unique advantages of the CESS course:
In-depth Understanding of the Web3 Ecosystem: Through this course, you will gain a deep understanding of various concepts of Web3, including decentralized storage, blockchain technology, cryptography, etc., laying a solid foundation for your development in this innovative field.
Practical Operations and Exercises, Join CESS Ecosystem for Incubation: The course is not only rich in theory but also emphasizes practical operations. You will have the opportunity to experience firsthand how to use CESS's storage and CDN services, and work with teammates to deploy an innovative project on CESS, mastering the actual operation of decentralized cloud storage and CDN networks; for projects successfully deployed and operated on the CESS chain, CESS will provide grants from the perspective of ecological contribution to help incubate the projects.
Course Completion NFT Certificate: A unique course completion NFT certificate will be awarded to students who successfully complete the course, which not only recognizes your learning achievements but also serves as a unique digital asset that proves your expertise in decentralized technology.
Project Support and Collaboration Opportunities: For students working in Web3 project teams or with creative projects, we will provide professional support to help projects stand out in the CESS and broader Web3 ecosystem. This includes technical support, resource sharing, and connections with professionals in the Web3 industry.
