Provide better infrastructure for the industry and offer the best storage and retrieval solutions for Web3 high-frequency dynamic data.

CESS has been envisioned since 2019, with the team firmly committed to the direction of decentralized storage. From the champion of the Polkadot hackathon to sponsors, their active presence has spread globally from East Asia to Latin America, attracting increasing attention and recognition over the past three years. As CESS enters 2023, it is about to welcome the highly anticipated mainnet launch. Looking back at the past three years of CESS's journey in decentralized storage, significant progress has been made in technology, ecology, and community. This article will summarize the major technological and ecological advancements of CESS over the past three years, allowing friends and partners interested in CESS to revisit its highlights. If you are new to CESS and want to learn more about it, this article also provides a comprehensive introduction to CESS.

Who is CESS? CESS is a decentralized cloud storage network for online data storage and real-time sharing, dedicated to providing a better decentralized full-stack solution for high-frequency dynamic data storage in Web3. CESS's powerful performance and highly flexible cloud storage support the monetization of user data and the free flow (sharing) of data value, while achieving data privacy protection in a trustless manner, returning data sovereignty to users. Through innovative decentralized cloud storage technologies, it makes the Web3 principle of "data-centricity, valuing data monetization and privacy protection" possible.

Detailed Explanation of CESS Mechanism

CESS's multi-layer network architecture consists of four layers: blockchain layer, storage resource layer, content distribution layer, and application support layer. The blockchain layer handles all transactions and contracts within the blockchain network. In CESS, this layer includes functions such as consensus algorithms, storage proofs, encryption systems, payments, and incentives. The design approach of CESS in the consensus mechanism and blockchain layer is to ensure fairness and efficiency in consensus achievement through a randomly selected rotating consensus node mechanism (R²S).

In the content distribution layer and storage resource layer, CESS protects data privacy and security through a multi-replica recoverable storage proof (PoDR²) mechanism and has designed disaster recovery measures; at the same time, by "pooling" storage resources, it maximizes the utilization of storage resources and solves the ability to truly call "restricted resources."

As the first decentralized cloud storage network in the industry that supports large-scale commercial applications from its native design, CESS provides sufficient performance and preparation for applications at the storage level, while also offering technical support for development teams, featuring developer-friendly characteristics. At the smart contract level, CESS is compatible with WASM/EVM; at the development tools level, CESS will provide modular development tools and API services for application developers, facilitating the use of network data storage, distribution, smart contracts, privacy protection, and data rights confirmation for application development. In addition to open Web3 applications, CESS also supports enterprise-level SDKs, providing decentralized storage services for enterprise applications.

Incentive Program

The CESS testnet officially began testing in 2022, opening three testing components: storage nodes (CESS-Bucket), consensus nodes (CESS-Consensus Node), and decentralized object storage (CESS-DeOSS). CESS has prepared numerous benefits and nearly ten million mainnet tokens as incentives for all users who actively participate in testing and construction.

Participants who establish storage nodes can earn rewards by providing storage space; participants who establish consensus nodes can earn rewards by providing computing resources and bandwidth; users can quickly experience the entire process of Web3 decentralized storage through DeShare; they can also purchase space through DeOSS to perform a series of operations such as uploading, downloading, and deleting files, all of which have high security and privacy.

In 2023, CESS is preparing more community incentive programs to show the greatest recognition and rewards to users who contribute to community participation.

Highlights of CESS Activities

Starting from the Polkadot hackathon, the CESS Lab team participated with FMD-CESS as their entry. FMD-CESS is a data trading platform based on the decentralized cloud storage network CESS. Subsequently, the smooth deployment and construction of the CESS network not only allowed FMD-CESS to easily meet all data storage needs but also made us see a future where more cross-ecosystem and diverse dapps' storage needs are met.

To showcase CESS's innovations and persistence in decentralized storage technology to the industry, developers, and users, CESS launched the "Pioneer Program," actively participating in various online and offline industry events and achieving more collaborations. In September 2022, CESS was invited to attend the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore, demonstrating CESS's empowerment of the Polkadot ecosystem and the entire Web3 field; in the same month, CESS went to Brazil to participate in a series of events centered around the Blockchain Rio Festival; in July 2022, CESS Chairman Nicholas Zaldastani was invited to attend Japan's largest crypto industry conference IVS Crypto, discussing Web3 infrastructure with many renowned projects; and CESS also hosted the "obCESSed in Vietnam" event, inviting numerous Polkadot ecosystem projects to participate…

CESS's footprint spans the globe and the entire industry, truly serving as the infrastructure of the storage track, understanding the real needs of the industry, and advancing in the construction of decentralized storage.

CESS Tutorial Series

CESS has been envisioned since 2019, started development in 2020, and has gone through two rounds of testing in 2021, six rounds of testing in 2022, totaling eight rounds of testing from version v0.0.1 to the current v0.5.3 version test network. Currently, the testing modules include storage miners, consensus miners, and DeOSS decentralized object storage services, with over 3,600 storage nodes and nearly 20 consensus nodes participating in the tests.

Users interested in CESS can create their first CESS wallet through the tutorial and become storage miners with a shared consensus. The newly launched DeShare tool allows crypto users to easily share images/videos on Damus in just two minutes, and it supports users' needs for uploading, storing, sharing, and downloading in many other application scenarios.

CESS Monthly Technical Progress

As of last month, the development team has been focusing on the development of the blockchain network CESS v0.6.0, continuously improving the decentralized object storage service (DeOSS). DeOSS is a tool provided by the CESS decentralized cloud storage network for storing and retrieving --- --- unstructured data and metadata using HTTP interfaces, aimed at providing decentralized storage services with fast read/write, high security, scalability, and privacy management for users with high-frequency dynamic data storage needs. Both individuals and enterprises can use DeOSS to store, manage, share, and trade data. The innovation of DeOSS makes CESS the first network in the industry to support Web3 high-frequency dynamic data storage, and it meets the commercial storage needs of B-end businesses, providing commercial-grade large-scale performance support.

DeOSS is just one of many innovations from CESS. On a monthly basis, CESS has demonstrated rapid technological progress and application results. Looking back over the past 12 months, each technology's process from inception, launch to optimization is reflected in the monthly reports, with the development team behind the CESS network continuously innovating in technology.

2023 CESS Ecological Plan

In 2022, CESS was active in ecology and industry. In addition to continuous progress in technological research and development, after mid-year, considerable effort was also invested in global community and brand operations, and the aforementioned "Pioneer Program" will continue. Over the past year, CESS not only participated in several major global Web3 events but also achieved several important milestones in its roadmap. These include: completing two Web3 Foundation Grants, being selected for the Substrate Builders Program, starting the development of the storage pallet, launching a block explorer, applying to become an AWS partner, releasing several testnet versions, and more.

In 2023, CESS will continue to expand its ecosystem, gathering users focused on storage, firmly directing decentralized storage solutions, providing better infrastructure for the industry, and offering perfectly matched decentralized object storage for Web3 high-frequency dynamic data, co-building a better ecosystem with users and developers within the ecosystem!
