ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, core developers of the Celo blockchain, cLabs, have proposed to adopt the OP Stack to develop its Ethereum Layer 2 chain. After evaluating various scaling technologies for eight months, cLabs chose OP Stack for development.It is reported that the Celo community approved the proposal to migrate to Ethereum Layer 2 through a governance vote last July. The plan is to deploy a testnet in the summer of 2024 and conduct a community vote.

ChainCatcher news, Marek Olszewski, CTO of Celo development company cLabs, stated in an interview with The Block that if the community votes to transition Celo from an EVM-compatible L1 public chain to an OP Stack-based Ethereum L2 proposal, the cLabs technical team will conduct the first hard fork of Celo in August. The hard fork will take place while the network is running normally and will only require upgrades for node operators and full node users, minimizing the impact on users or senior developers.Previous report, on July 25, the governance proposal regarding the migration of Celo to the Ethereum L2 architecture has opened community voting (Temperature Check). This governance proposal is a vote from the community, supporting Celo's transition from an independent EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain to Ethereum Layer 2.

ChainCatcher news, according to information from the Celo governance forum, the Celo development organization cLabs has proposed to transition Celo from an independent EVM-compatible L1 blockchain to an Ethereum L2 based on the OP Stack. This proposal comes after months of research by the cLabs team and preliminary discussions with members of the Celo and Ethereum core communities.After the transition, the decentralized sequencer will be supported by the existing set of validator nodes running Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus on Celo. The off-chain data availability layer will be supported by EigenLayer and EigenDA, operated by Ethereum node operators, and secured by restaked ETH.The community will hold a governance call on July 21 at Pacific Time and will initiate a temperature check governance proposal after the meeting.
