The Celo development organization cLabs proposed to transform Celo into an Ethereum L2 based on the OP Stack
ChainCatcher news, according to information from the Celo governance forum, the Celo development organization cLabs has proposed to transition Celo from an independent EVM-compatible L1 blockchain to an Ethereum L2 based on the OP Stack. This proposal comes after months of research by the cLabs team and preliminary discussions with members of the Celo and Ethereum core communities.
After the transition, the decentralized sequencer will be supported by the existing set of validator nodes running Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus on Celo. The off-chain data availability layer will be supported by EigenLayer and EigenDA, operated by Ethereum node operators, and secured by restaked ETH.
The community will hold a governance call on July 21 at Pacific Time and will initiate a temperature check governance proposal after the meeting. (source link)
