Similar incidents have also occurred involving cabinet nominees of then-elected President Donald Trump.The incidents targeting Democratic lawmakers included "detailed threats about placing pipe bombs in mailboxes and attempts to lure SWAT teams into action, all of which were signed off with 'MAGA'," Jeffries said in a statement on Friday. The "MAGA" he referred to is Trump's political slogan "Make America Great Again." Jeffries noted that due to the swift response of law enforcement, no devices were found, and members of Congress and their families remained safe during the holiday.Some Democratic lawmakers from Connecticut reported that they were targeted during the Thanksgiving incidents, including Representatives Jim Himes, Rosa DeLauro, and Jahana Hayes. They posted the threats they received on the X social media platform.
