This follows an investigation that the agency began after the World ID project was launched in Brazil last November.The enforcement department of ANPD reported that it determined that offering cryptocurrency as compensation could undermine the validity of user consent for the collection of sensitive biometric data, and expressed concerns that financial incentives might influence people's decisions, especially among vulnerable groups. It also raised concerns about the sensitivity of biometric data, the irreversibility of data collection, and the inability to delete collected biometric data once provided.

ChainCatcher news, according to official sources, WorldCoin stated that it operates legally in all locations where it provides services, and its design fully complies with all laws and regulations governing data collection and data transmission, including the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") in Europe and Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law 25.326 (Ley de Protección de los Datos Personales).In the European Union, the project is also supervised by the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutz).
