REI Network improves the slashing mechanism to address validator misconduct
ChainCatcher news, the lightweight EVM-compatible chain REI Network has stated on social media that it has improved the slashing mechanism, aimed at effectively addressing validator misconduct. Initially, validators could face penalties for unclear proofs or blocks, but with the latest upgrade of REI DAO, the penalty measures have also been customized. For validators causing significant damage, such as those leading to blockchain forks due to double signing, they may face slashing of up to 100% based on actual damages; for non-harmful events or validators contributing positively to the network, penalties are determined by REI holders through voting on REI DAO proposals. This adjustable approach aligns with community intentions and deters bad actors, with the adjustment of slashing targets and amounts reflecting community consensus, increasing the cost of malicious behavior, minimizing losses for innocent validators, and ensuring the stability of the REI network.
