Uniswap founder: Ethereum L2 should not focus on immutability before L1 is ready
ChainCatcher news, Uniswap founder Hayden Adams posted on the X platform yesterday, stating that L2 chains focused on Ethereum scaling should not prioritize immutability until the Ethereum blockchain is ready.Adams said, "Ethereum L2 should not be immutable. It has been 10 years, and L1 is still not ready for immutability." He added that expecting L2 networks to "never upgrade again or force large-scale migrations" is "meaningless."He explained, "If some migrate and some do not, the nature of users and applications interacting on the L2 chain will undermine composability."The Ethereum Foundation has stated that L2 chains are part of its scaling plan. In response, Jonathan Colón, head of the NFT marketplace Rarible ecosystem, called L2 networks a "money grab."Adams responded, "The entire plan to scale Ethereum is 'L2'; we either make them work or change the roadmap (I lean towards the former). Calling them a money grab (or) saying they need to be immutable does not change that. Their construction costs are high, and L1 has not funded this work."
