CESS is a blockchain-based decentralized cloud storage network and CD²N network that supports online data storage and real-time sharing, providing a full-stack solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3.

Overview

This week, the testing of the CESS chain cross-chain mechanism was completed, successfully achieving the Token transfer test across the CESS and Ethereum test chains; this week, various proof algorithm modules for storage nodes were improved, fixing issues such as nodes being unable to submit idle space proofs and verify service storage proofs; this week, the CESS Merkle event was launched, and participants have the chance to win a "spaceship" and share mysterious prizes! 1. Blockchain Network

The CESS testnet v0.7.6 consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node) and serve as the "data certification station" in the CESS network (by TEE Worker). Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and act as the "data storage pool" in the CESS network. Here are the progress updates for this week:

Consensus Nodes [v0.7.7]

(1) Completed testing of the CESS chain cross-chain mechanism, successfully achieving Token transfer tests across the Ethereum test chain;

(2) Completed the writing and testing of benchmark cases for the key pallet of the new version of consensus nodes;

(3) Completed the standardized deployment and load balancing strategy configuration of the CESS chain RPC nodes;

(4) Completed the design and implementation of the CESS CDN network cache node work reward protocol Substrate Ink! contract;

Storage Nodes [v0.7.14]

(1) Fixed the issue where storage nodes could not effectively verify service storage proofs due to caching invalid keys;

(2) Fixed the issue where storage nodes failed to synchronize idle space proof status due to delays in receiving transaction events;

(3) Fixed the issue where storage nodes could not generate idle space proofs due to failed snapshot recovery; 2. Products

(1) Completed the implementation of the Http protocol sharding upload mechanism for DeOSS;

(2) Optimized the DeOSS breakpoint resume mechanism, reducing unnecessary verification steps to improve response speed;

CESS Testnet Progress

(1) According to CESS Scan (https://scan.cess.network/), as of September 1, the CESS testnet v0.7.7 Venus version has been released for 32 days, with a total of over 5761 successfully registered storage nodes and 25 consensus nodes, providing a total storage space of 44.0 PiB, with verified storage space of 15.71 PiB; if test users encounter issues during the node construction process, they can seek help in the CESS official Discord (https://discord.gg/cess).

(2) The latest incentive testnet Venus was officially launched on July 31, 2024! The incentive activities for the testnet are ongoing, and participating storage nodes will earn points that can be redeemed for mainnet CESS Tokens. The total incentives will be determined based on the effective storage capacity of miners at the end of this version of the testnet. (3) The P3233 international standard release conference co-hosted by CESS and IEEE has successfully concluded. Next, we will work with participating members to embark on the standardized development path of the "blockchain-based decentralized storage protocol," laying a solid foundation for the development of Web3 and the broader blockchain ecosystem. (4) On August 29, CESS was invited to participate in the Binance live broadcast hosted by CTalks, "How Will the Combination of DePIN and Web3 Empower Existing Industry Ecosystems?"
