Image 2024.8.19~2024.8.25 CESS is a decentralized cloud storage network and CD²N network based on blockchain, supporting online data storage and real-time sharing, providing a full-stack solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3.

The CESS data value network is a Layer 1 infrastructure built on the DePIN concept, featuring decentralization, efficiency, security, privacy, and scalability. CESS supports large-scale commercial storage, capable of hosting phenomenal decentralized applications (dApps); CESS supports the monetization of data value and the free flow/sharing of data value, while achieving user data privacy protection and data sovereignty returning to data owners in a trustless manner, thereby constructing a prosperous, diverse, and sovereign data asset economy.

CESS Project Development

Overview This week, an online upgrade task for consensus nodes was completed, which increased the random challenge frequency for storage nodes and adjusted the reward calculation ratio for random challenges, allowing storage nodes that stored user files to receive more reward gains; this week also saw the resolution of online issues such as the probabilistic inability to calculate idle random challenge proofs when storage nodes are in a specific state, the inability to use TEE Node to accelerate data authentication, and the increase in transaction fees due to continuously submitting failed transactions; additionally, this week, the issue of DeOSS being unable to preview video files online and the high failure rate of uploading user file fragments to storage nodes was also fixed. 1. Blockchain Network

The CESS testnet v0.7.6 consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node) and serve as the "data authentication station" in the CESS network (by TEE Worker). Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and are the "data storage pool" in the CESS network. Here are the progress updates for this week:

Consensus Nodes [v0.7.7]

(1) Completed the online upgrade of consensus nodes, increasing the random challenge frequency for storage nodes;

(2) Optimized the TEE Node management module for consensus nodes, allowing ineffective TEE Nodes to be cleaned up in a timely manner;

(3) Adjusted the reward calculation ratio for random challenges, changing the idle computing power and active computing power reward ratios to 5% and 95%;

Storage Nodes [v0.7.11]

(1) Fixed the issue where idle random challenge proofs could not be generated probabilistically when storage nodes were in a specific state;

(2) Fixed the issue where storage nodes could not prioritize using custom TEE Nodes to accelerate idle authentication;

(3) Fixed the issue where storage nodes experienced a significant increase in transaction fees due to continuously submitting failed transactions; 2. Product

CESS is committed to providing practical storage services and CD²N services for Web3, meeting large-scale commercial storage needs, achieving millisecond-level data retrieval and return. CESS pioneered decentralized object storage services (DeOSS), and the product ecosystem of the CESS network is gradually becoming rich and prosperous, currently incubating innovative applications such as online file sharing tools (DeShare), public chain snapshot storage services, and CESS cloud storage. We welcome you to experience them. Here are the progress updates for this week:

Object Storage Service (DeOSS)

(1) Fixed the issue where user videos could not be played normally due to inconsistent return status codes from DeOSS;

(2) Fixed the issue of high failure rates when uploading user file fragments to storage nodes in DeOSS;

(3) Completed the architectural upgrade of the CESS CD²N cache nodes, enabling basic parallel computing capabilities;

(4) Completed testing and related issue fixes for the static resource distribution function of CESS CD²N cache nodes; 3. Feedback and Support

(1) Your feedback is crucial! Please submit issues in CIPs (https://github.com/CESSProject/CIPs) and share your thoughts with us! CESS Testnet Progress

(1) According to data from CESS Scan (https://scan.cess.network/), as of August 25, the CESS testnet v0.7.7 Venus version has been released for 25 days, with a total of over 5556 successfully registered storage nodes and 23 consensus nodes, providing a total storage space of 42.11 PiB, with verified storage space of 10.88 PiB; if test users encounter issues during the node construction process, they can seek help in the CESS official Discord (https://discord.gg/cess).

(2) The latest incentive testnet Venus was officially launched on July 31, 2024! The incentive activities for the testnet are ongoing, and participating storage nodes in the testing will earn points that can be exchanged for mainnet CESS Tokens. The total incentives will be determined based on the effective storage capacity of miners at the end of this version of the testnet. For detailed incentive rules, please refer to the article “CESS Officially Launches Testnet Venus, Innovative Decentralized Storage + CD²N”. For details on the final miner node testing points rewards from the last round, please see (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18HIJaJ74t5CVqPIEa7dtIKvD-kniVYvg_VhPwJJES3Y/edit?gid=0#gid=0).

(3) CESS invites you to join the IEEE P3233 international standard release conference! In February this year, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) approved the industry standard proposal P3233 "Blockchain-based Distributed Storage Protocol Specification" submitted by CESS. To further promote the development of this industry standard, CESS will co-host the launch meeting with IEEE. (For details, see the article “Invitation | IEEE P3233 International Standard Release Conference”.)

(4) Last week, around the popular topic of cryptocurrency memes, CESS hosted a themed Space titled "How Will Memes on the Wind Affect Web3 Investment Decisions?" Experts from the industry, including CESS co-founder Joe, Cluster Protocol co-founder YJ, and NOVA Strategy founder, were invited to introduce the opportunities and challenges of memes. This online event accumulated 27.4K views, and CESS will continue to hold high-quality online events, so stay tuned for the next exciting session!

(5) The CESS Global Ambassador Program is ongoing! Over 631 people have applied to join. By joining the CESS Global Ambassador Program now, you can enjoy multiple benefits. Please click “CESS Global Ambassador Program: Officially Open for Applications!” for more details.
