On-chain storage future, how does CESS promote the large-scale adoption of Web3?
The CESS team attended an online live event hosted by PolkaWorld. The event focused on discussing future storage solutions for blockchain, themed "Exploring the Future of On-Chain Storage: A New Chapter in Decentralized Storage for the Polkadot Ecosystem," inviting CESS along with other infrastructure projects and industry professionals researching storage to discuss and exchange ideas on decentralized storage.

Track CESS --- --- CESS is Committed to Providing Storage Infrastructure for Web3
Andy introduced CESS at the conference and shared the latest developments and updates. As the first blockchain network to truly achieve large-scale commercial storage, CESS is a secure, efficient, open-source, and scalable decentralized storage network. CESS provides the best solutions for storing and retrieving high-frequency dynamic data in Web3. CESS supports the monetization of data within the network and the free flow/sharing of data value, while achieving user data privacy protection and absolute data sovereignty in a trustless manner. The decentralized object storage service (DeOSS) pioneered by CESS is the S3 of the decentralized storage field.
On the technical side, CESS is currently in the testing phase of version v0.5.3. The testnet v0.5.3 consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes, with the number of nodes exceeding 6000. Consensus nodes maintain the global state of the CESS network (by CESS Node) and serve as "data certification stations" (by TEE Worker) within the CESS network. Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and act as the "data storage pool" in the CESS network. Since the launch of the CESS testnet, each version has undergone practical testing, updates, and iterations. In terms of products, CESS has built several innovative applications based on the decentralized object storage service (DeOSS). Among them is the online file sharing tool (DeShare) --- decentralized and supporting multiple file formats (images, videos, audio, and text) for storage and link generation, featuring advantages such as no registration or login required, no need for encrypted wallets and assets, support for mobile uploads and downloads, and permanent storage. Other innovative applications like public chain snapshot storage service and CESS cloud storage also provide a secure and flexible decentralized storage experience for Web3 projects and users.
The decentralized streaming platform VIDEOWN, incubated by the CESS ecosystem, is a video creation platform dedicated to the Web3 era, supporting quick upload, storage, retrieval, and downloading of various types of video content, while also allowing content to be minted as NFTs. The data generated by users and creators will receive rights protection and decentralized storage.
In terms of community building and market expansion, CESS has been actively present at major industry events and activities. Whether as builders and contributors or participants, CESS, as a member of Web3 infrastructure, actively promotes the development of the industry and technology. This year, CESS has already attended and organized multiple industry conferences and important events.
In January, CESS went to Chengdu to attend the 2022 Polkadot Winter Hackathon Finals Demoday, providing bounty rewards and storage support to the on-site teams, while also receiving positive feedback from participating projects --- many projects used CESS's decentralized storage to build innovative applications; in the same month, CESS co-founder and chairman Nicholas Zaldastani participated in the Digital Assets at Duke seminar hosted by Duke University in the United States.
In February, CESS co-founder and COO Jessie participated as a speaker in the closed sharing session of the Malaysia Web3 Club at the invitation of Dr. Cao, president of the ASEAN Blockchain Industry Association.
In March, the CESS Global Ambassador Program officially opened for applications, with 500 candidates from over 20 countries and regions applying for the program and participating in ecological construction and contributions to become CESS ambassadors; in the same month, CESS reached a strategic cooperation with Hamster to jointly build the cornerstone of Web3 development.
In April, CESS sponsored and attended the "2023 Hong Kong Web3 Festival" co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Lab and HashKey Group, and organized by W3ME; in the same month, CESS co-hosted HackDW3C with Duke University; and participated in the "Opening a New Era of Web3 Digital" event co-hosted by UWEB (University of WEB3) and 7 O'Clock Capital, where CESS, as a track for Web3 storage infrastructure, met and exchanged ideas with excellent projects from other tracks…
This month, CESS will participate in the Polkadot Decoded Conference in Copenhagen and the IVS Crypto 2023 KYOTO Conference in Japan. CESS has never stopped exploring; instead, it truly acts as the infrastructure for the storage track, communicating with many frontline practitioners to jointly build a decentralized future.
Challenges Faced by CESS in the Decentralized Storage Track
When discussing the current challenges faced by decentralized storage, the guests mentioned that achieving high performance and user experience close to centralized storage is a major challenge. Andy elaborated on how CESS addresses and solves this challenge.

When will the WeChat and Douyin of Web3 appear? Or rather, what kind of storage infrastructure is needed to build phenomenal and large-scale applications for Web3? CESS answers this question with DeOSS: DeOSS is a decentralized object-based massive storage service within the CESS network, aimed at providing decentralized storage services that are fast in read/write, highly secure, scalable, and privacy-managed for users with high-frequency dynamic data storage needs. DeOSS will facilitate the realization of large-scale storage while ensuring security, privacy, and decentralization, providing ultra-high performance; protecting the availability and integrity of user data, and enabling users to truly control the ownership of their data.

Andy also pointed out that storage, as the cornerstone of Web3, can drive the development of more innovative applications. He again cited the decentralized streaming platform VIDEOWN as an example --- VIDEOWN mints the video content created by users into NFTs, supporting sharing and trading. This actually reflects CESS's storage capabilities, and on the basis of fully meeting existing needs, we look forward to more decentralized applications that combine blockchain technology to meet the needs of mainstream users and cover more use cases.
