CESS has completed the first milestone of the Substrate Builders Program!
In February 2022, CESS was successfully selected for the Substrate Builders Program (SBP). As a program that has previously involved high-quality projects like Polkadot parachains Moonbeam and Acala, CESS's successful selection demonstrates the strong capabilities of the CESS team and Parity's recognition of CESS.
After joining the program, the CESS development team worked tirelessly and completed all the established content of the first milestone by the end of April and submitted it to Parity. However, due to the Parity team's preparations for the Polkadot Decoded conference, the review of the first milestone was only completed recently. CESS successfully passed the review and achieved the first milestone!
In the first milestone, CESS completed the following development progress:
Decentralized Storage Charging Mechanism. This mechanism will determine pricing by comprehensively considering parameters such as existing idle storage space in the network, prices of other storage projects, CESS token prices, and storage duration.
Proof of Data Recovery with Multiple Copies (PoDR²). As the core storage proof mechanism of CESS, this mechanism ensures that the stored data is encrypted and redundant, guaranteeing data security (for a detailed explanation of this mechanism, please refer to “Detailed Explanation of CESS Mechanism (3): Storage, Content Distribution Network, and Proof of Data Recovery with Multiple Copies”).
Block Explorer. CESS developed a block explorer that includes storage network-specific information, building on the existing Polkadot-js application explorer. This explorer contains almost all important information, allowing users to understand the overall picture of the CESS network.
Storage Miner Client. In addition to achieving stable and efficient data storage functionality, the storage miner client will implement data segment verification generation. After the client confirms receipt of the data segment, it needs to calculate the data segment separately to generate the PoDR² data integrity proof. Additionally, the client supports storage miners in storing evidence on-chain for verification by other nodes, as well as staking, registration, exit, and other operations.
User Client. The user client includes functionalities for uploading and downloading, payment, and viewing storage data status.
Parity officials also fully acknowledged the content submitted by CESS and provided some suggestions for improving the richness of the documentation. CESS will refer to these suggestions to further refine the project's development information.
Currently, the second milestone of CESS SBP is also set to be completed and submitted by the end of this month, so stay tuned for another good news!
