The first zkSync Asia-Pacific community IRL event has successfully concluded
Author: zkSync Chinese Community
On July 2, the first zkSync Asia-Pacific community IRL event, co-hosted by the zkSync Chinese Community and Web3World, was successfully held in Shenzhen, China, with over 100 zkSync ecosystem builders, developers, users, and investors in attendance. Participants exchanged ideas on the development direction of the zkSync ecosystem and planned collaborative opportunities for building the zkSync ecosystem together.
At the beginning of the event, the zkSync Chinese Community shared basic information about zkSync and the current state of its ecosystem with the attendees.
For a long time, zk-rollup has been regarded as the ultimate holy grail of Layer 2 solutions. It can free Ethereum from the suffocating Gas fees and scalability issues, addressing the so-called blockchain trilemma.
Matter Labs is one of the first companies to provide a viable Layer 2 solution for Ethereum. In March of this year, the Matter Labs team announced the launch of the zkSync Era mainnet Alpha version. As the first ZKEVM, zkSync has opened the door to open-source, decentralized, and freely driven zk technology while advocating that every member of the global zkSync community is a true owner of zkSync and a guardian of its values. We have the right and responsibility to follow and assist the core team, guiding all community members towards the North Star of freedom.
The goal of zkSync is to scale Ethereum's security and value through zk-Rollup technology, accelerating the mass adoption of personal sovereignty in cryptocurrency. zkSync expands Ethereum's security and values such as trustlessness, permissionless access, censorship resistance, and resilience through decentralization and community ownership. So far, zkSync has raised $458 million from top investors worldwide, further solidifying its mission to enhance Ethereum's security and value.
According to L2beat data, zkSync currently has a TVL of over $700 million, has completed over 50 million transactions, and created over 65% of wallets in just the past three months, attracting more and more new users.
Additionally, the event introduced the current state of the ecosystem and the operation of zkDAO. The goal of zkDAO is to promote the development of the zkSync ecosystem by providing support for various projects and initiatives. zkDAO offers grants and strategic capital to support protocols within the ecosystem; allocates grants for the development of chains and public welfare tools; continuously improves the research and development of protocols and the ecosystem; and organizes educational events and workshops to raise awareness of ZK technology.
Ecological developers participating in the event showcased relevant projects related to smart contract wallets, gaming, cross-chain bridges, DeFi, and infrastructure.
Argent, as a leading smart contract wallet in the zkSync ecosystem, focused on discussing "how to bring the advantages of Web2 into Web3." The head of the Argent ecosystem presented to the audience the high barriers traditional Web3 wallets pose for new users and how Argent is changing this situation, including features like registration methods and social recovery. Argent also introduced how to apply it to zkSync Era and explained why Era can succeed with account abstraction.
SpaceFi is one of the focused projects in the zkSync Era ecosystem and one of the earliest and most active projects on zkSync Era, with over 160,000 independent depositors and about $8 million in TVL. During the event, the community shared the latest activities of SpaceFi through a roundtable discussion, explained the new roadmap, and presented the vision for a DeFi hub in the zkSync era. Additionally, SpaceFi will launch a points system to record users' contributions to SpaceFi and zkSync Era, providing potential incentives and rewards such as NFT redemption. Users can share the potential incentives of SpaceFi and zkSync, as well as redeem NFTs and other rewards. To achieve the goal of actual yield, SpaceFi will soon conduct its first buyback and burn according to updated token economics.
Syncswap's vision is to establish a fully seamless, user-friendly, and innovative one-stop DeFi hub. On a scalable Ethereum, it aims to bring user-friendly and easy-to-use DeFi products to more people, even those who have never heard of Ethereum.
As a leading project in the zkSync ecosystem, the conference explained the current development status of Syncswap as a leading application and its layout as a launchpad through a roundtable discussion.
The founder of Cryptomaze introduced two newly launched GameFi games and NFT projects via video connection.
ArchiSwap is an innovative and game-changing DEX in the zkSync ecosystem. As part of their long-term plan, their goal is to gradually incorporate a wide range of features such as lending, margin trading, and perpetual futures. This strategic roadmap emphasizes their commitment to building a comprehensive trading ecosystem that rivals CEX in terms of functionality and user experience, aiming to make ArchiSwap a one-stop solution that meets all DeFi needs.
Owlto Finance conducted a comparison of cross-chain bridge fees during their presentation, helping users better experience and participate in the zkSync ecosystem.
2023 is seen as the first year of Layer 2, with fierce competition in the Layer 2 track. As a leading Layer 2 project, zkSync's ecosystem is developing rapidly, with a swift increase in on-chain users. All positive signals indicate that the second half of 2023 is a crucial year for zkSync's construction and innovation.
The zkSync Chinese Community is the first contributor community focused on the zkSync ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region, established in November 2021. It supports the zkSync ecosystem through ecological project support, hosting events, sharing sessions, developer education, community building, and creating bilingual content, actively participating in ecosystem construction and helping community members better understand and use zkSync by acquiring high-quality, genuine core users.
