According to senior core developers, over 13% of home and commercial computers executing Bitcoin rules globally are affected by a remote shutdown vulnerability.The vulnerability affects nodes running versions of Bitcoin Core prior to 25.0, allowing attackers to crash nodes by manipulating block transaction messages. The vulnerability originates from Core's compact block protocol, which uses shortened transaction identifiers to reduce internet bandwidth usage. Attackers can trigger conflicts in these identifiers, causing nodes to request complete blocks. While requesting complete, untruncated blocks is a security precaution, versions of the software prior to 25.0 have flaws in the logic for handling subsequent blocktxn messages.In short, nodes can be forced into an invalid state by manipulating logic gates, leading to a complete crash. Although there is no economic incentive for ordinary attackers, developers strongly recommend that node operators update to the latest version. The credit for discovering and disclosing this vulnerability goes to Niklas Gögge, and Bitcoin Core 25.0 has resolved this issue.

On May 14, Lido DAO contributors became aware of a security vulnerability that affected active node operators using Lido on the Ethereum protocol (Numic).The security vulnerability occurred a few days ago, affecting a developer's machine that had access to the backup of the mainnet validator's cryptographic key materials. It is currently unclear whether the encrypted key materials were accessed, copied, or otherwise manipulated, nor is it known whether the decryption materials for that data were discovered or if the encryption was compromised.In response to the identification that the encrypted backup may have been accessed, and for security reasons, the node operators decided to: set the deposit keys associated with the Lido protocol to zero to avoid receiving any further deposits; and to voluntarily exit all potentially affected keys in a staggered manner over the next few days.As of a few hours ago, all operators' validators have exited (and fully withdrawn). This incident did not affect the operation of the validators, nor did it impact user funds.

All ETH from the withdrawn validators will flow back to the Lido protocol through the withdrawal process and will subsequently be re-staked into available keys in the buffer.
