ChainCatcher news, Coinbase disclosed that law enforcement requests have decreased by 18% year-over-year. In its transparency report, Coinbase revealed that over the past year, the company received 10,707 requests from law enforcement and government agencies worldwide, a decrease of 18% compared to the previous reporting period.The United States submitted the most law enforcement and government requests for the third consecutive year. Outside the U.S., Coinbase also saw a significant decline in law enforcement requests in key markets. Requests from Germany, the UK, and Spain decreased by 33%, 45%, and 35%, respectively.In contrast, the number of requests from Singapore saw a substantial increase, with a growth rate of 221%, rising from 34 in 2023 to 109 this year. This indicates that regulatory activity in the region is on the rise.

ChainCatcher news, Binance CEO Richard Teng released the 2023 annual summary stating that in 2023, Binance registered users increased by 30%, reaching a total of 170 million.The Binance investigation team handled over 53,000 law enforcement requests in 2023 (an increase of 3,000 compared to the previous year), invested $213 million in compliance programs, a 35% increase from last year ($158 million), and Binance continued to invest in leading KYC providers and product solutions.

Binance stated that it does not understand the internal workings of the U.S. Department of Justice, and even if it did, it would be inappropriate to comment.Binance also stated that since November 2021, its law enforcement team has responded to over 47,000 law enforcement requests with an average response time of three days; the number of security and compliance personnel has increased by over 500%; it has participated in more than 70 anti-cybercrime seminars with global law enforcement agencies; and it has become the first blockchain and cryptocurrency company to join the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA).
