ChainCatcher news, according to Ledgerinsights, the Eurogroup meeting next Monday will discuss tokenization, distributed ledger technology, and central bank funds for wholesale settlements, as well as the status of the retail digital euro. The Eurogroup is an informal body of economic and finance ministers that meets to discuss issues related to the euro.Hyun Song Shin, economic advisor and head of the Monetary and Economic Department at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), will participate in the discussion. He is involved in the Agorá project, which is a BIS initiative aimed at combining tokenization and wholesale CBDC to accelerate cross-border payments using correspondent banks. The project involves 41 institutions and 7 central banks, including the Bank of France representing the EU.

The project aims to establish a "usable" solution that integrates tokenized commercial bank deposits with central bank funds using smart contracts and programmability.It is reported that the project brings together seven central banks from the UK, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Switzerland, New York, and Europe.
