ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, SEC Commissioner Mark T Uyeda stated at the Korea Blockchain Week 2024 event that the SEC needs to create a dedicated S-1 registration for digital asset securities.Uyeda pointed out that the SEC has the flexibility to tailor registration requirements for specific financial products, and this approach should extend to the realm of cryptocurrencies and digital asset securities. He emphasized that the SEC should not create a "catch-22" situation by requiring digital asset securities issuers to provide irrelevant or unattainable disclosure information. Uyeda also stated that the SEC should clarify which digital assets fall under the category of securities and consider the practices of other jurisdictions globally in future rule-making. Nevertheless, digital assets are currently not included in SEC Chairman Gary Gensler's regulatory agenda.

The trust fund can begin trading once the S-1 registration statement becomes effective. This mini trust fund is a scaled-down version of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), and the new mini trust fund shares will be distributed to GBTC shareholders.According to a Grayscale spokesperson, the company is waiting for the registration statement to become effective, and the approval will allow the mini trust fund to operate as a U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded product (ETP).

According to the document, Coinbase Credit will serve as the company's trading credit lender, allowing it to borrow Ethereum (ETH) and cash in certain trades exceeding the trading balance. BNY Mellon will act as the transfer agent, handling subscription and redemption orders and maintaining ownership records of the fund. Additionally, BNY Mellon will serve as the manager and cash custodian, Coinbase Custody will act as the Ethereum custodian, Coinbase Inc. will be the primary execution agent, Delaware Trust Company will act as the trustee, and ProShare Capital Management will serve as the issuer.
