Chilean regulators require World and Rappi to stop conducting iris scanning activities in the country
ChainCatcher news, according to Crypto-News-Flash, Chile's consumer protection agency SERNAC has issued a notice to World (formerly Worldcoin) and Rappi, demanding that they cease iris scanning activities in the country. It is reported that Rappi has clarified that Rappi and World signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at conducting a pilot test for on-demand human verification services, with the related iris scanning program set to be trialed in Argentina in 2024, rather than in Chile as previously speculated. However, SERNAC claims to have received multiple reports related to World’s operations in the country, including the registration of minors in the system, the operator's failure to disclose data, and the inability to delete data from the system.
