Chairman of the U.S. Financial Services Committee: Surprised and Disappointed by the Timing of SBF's Arrest
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, a Democrat from California, expressed that she is "disappointed" and "surprised" by the timing of SBF's arrest, as SBF was originally scheduled to testify before the Financial Committee tomorrow.Waters stated, "While SBF must be held accountable, the American public has the right to hear directly from SBF about the harm done to over a million people. The public has been eagerly waiting to get these answers in Congress, and the timing of this arrest deprives the public of that opportunity. While I am disappointed that I will not hear from SBF tomorrow, we remain committed to getting to the bottom of what happened."It is reported that SBF was arrested in the Bahamas and may be extradited back to the United States. The Financial Services Committee will still hear from FTX's current CEO John Ray III regarding his views on the company's collapse. (The Block)
