Generative AI startup Together completes $102.5 million Series A funding, led by Kleiner Perkins

ChainCatcher news, according to Decrypt, generative AI startup Together has raised $102.5 million in Series A funding, led by American venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, with participation from NVIDIA and Emergence Capital. Other participants in the Series A investment include NEA, Prosperity 7, Greycroft, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, Definition Capital, and Long Journey Ventures.It is reported that the funds will be used to improve its AI application cloud platform, invest in R&D, contribute to open-source AI, and enhance its infrastructure. Based in San Francisco, Together was founded in June 2022 and develops open-source AI cloud software. The team consists of veterans from Apple, ETH Zurich, and scholars from Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and MIT.ChainCatcher previously reported that AI development company Together announced the completion of a $20 million seed round, led by Lux Capital, with participation from Long Journey Ventures, Robot Ventures, as well as PayPal co-founder Scott Banister, OpenSea co-founder Alex Atallah, and Uniswap COO MC Lader. The funds raised will be used to build an open-source AI and cloud platform.It is reported that Together has established partnerships with decentralized infrastructure providers, open-source communities, and academic and corporate research labs, and has already released several AI projects, including GPT-JT, OpenChatKit, and RedPajama. Its goal is to help create open models that go beyond closed models, with open-source as the default way to integrate AI. Through research on distributed optimization, a dedicated cloud platform has been built for large models, which can effectively scale training and inference, with plans to open access to the platform in the coming months.
