ChainCatcher message, Ethereum protocol developer and Prysm maintainer Terence recently shared his views on his social platform, stating that Ethereum's roadmap is simpler than many people think, with most of it achievable within the next four years: maximizing data availability, improving censorship resistance, reducing trust through off-chain block construction and better slot utilization, achieving faster consensus finality, enhancing the staking user experience, finalizing staking economics, limiting execution layer storage, and implementing stateless execution.

ChainCatcher message, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published an article summarizing the Ethereum 2023 roadmap update, stating that as Ethereum's technical path continues to solidify, changes are relatively few and the situation is very similar to 2022. This includes:The Merge: The role of single-slot finality (SSF) in the post-Merge PoS improvements is becoming more established. It is increasingly clear that SSF is the simplest way to address many of the current weaknesses in Ethereum's PoS design;The Surge: Significant progress has been made in Surge (rollup scaling), whether through EIP-4844 or the rollup itself. Cross-rollup standards and interoperability are also seen as areas needing long-term improvement;The Scourge: After a certain degree of redesign, the current focus is on combating economic centralization in PoS in two key areas: (i) MEV, (ii) general staking pool issues;The Verge: Significant progress has been made; Verkle trees are nearing readiness for inclusion;The Purge: "State expiry" has been downscaled to reflect a general consensus that it is a relatively low priority and low urgency project, especially considering stateless clients and PBS/execution tickets;The Splurge: Due to cryptographic weaknesses in the existing structure, VDF has been downscaled to reflect a temporarily reduced focus.
