According to local media reports, the CVM has sent letters to several companies providing tokenization services to third parties, requesting data related to their operations and the types of tokens issued in these activities.Some of the questions raised in these letters pertain to the number of tokenization operations completed by each company, the names of the assets supporting these operations, and the so-called classification of these tokens (utility tokens, payment tokens, or securities).

The document, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, will define the oversight and responsibilities of the Brazilian Central Bank and the National Securities Regulator (CVM). The new definitions will place Brazilian securities regulators above tokenized securities, analyzing whether each tokenized asset constitutes a security.
