Brazilian judge allows NFT subpoena to be issued to Bitcoin wallet in BWA Brazil fraud case
ChainCatcher news, according to Cryptoslate, a court in Brazil has approved the use of NFTs to notify an unconfirmed defendant in a case involving missing bitcoins, which are related to the alleged pyramid scheme BWA Brazil. This decision stems from a legal action initiated by the bankruptcy estate's court-appointed trustee, who is attempting to interrupt the statute of limitations for claims related to crypto assets allegedly acquired using creditor funds. The bankruptcy estate requested the court to allow the minting of NFTs containing relevant legal documents and sending them to the wallet address originally involved in the transactions, to digitally deliver legal procedural documents.Additionally, the prosecutor's office submitted a favorable opinion supporting the trustee's request. This measure targets digital asset holders whose identities are unknown but whose wallet addresses can be traced through the Bitcoin blockchain. The bankruptcy estate claims that approximately 11,200 BTC were acquired using creditor funds. At current prices, 11,200 bitcoins are worth over $900 million. According to the legal documents, these transactions occurred prior to the bankruptcy and may currently face recovery proceedings.
