AssangeDAO members: 12,161 ETH has been used for Assange's legal defense and activities, and over 4,431 ETH remains unused

ChainCatcher news, AssangeDAO member Silke Noa posted on social media that the Wau Holland Foundation (WH) has released a "preliminary transparency report," disclosing the expenditures of the 16,593 ETH raised by AssangeDAO for the rescue of Julian Assange.According to the report, so far, 12,161 ETH has been used for legal fees and public relations work, and certain advance payments made by WH before fundraising for The Clock are also included. Moreover, these figures clearly indicate that the 10,000 contributors of AssangeDAO have effectively funded Assange's freedom. Specifically, in 2021, WH's donation income was €63,000, while €194,000 was spent on Assange's activities; in 2022, WH used 3,800 ETH (approximately €5.98 million) from the Assange fund, along with €264,000 in independent donations, to pay for legal and public relations activities. The report mentions that for pending invoices related to legal fees in 2024, it is expected that they will not be provided to WH until mid-August, and it still needs to be clarified whether there are any ongoing lawsuits that require continued support. 5% of AssangeDAO's funds (valued at 829.65 ETH as of May 9, 2022) are retained by WH as "reserves" to cover WH's internal costs (IT infrastructure, expenses, travel costs, office costs), with related multi-signatures indicating that 329.65 ETH remains in that reserve account. The report also lists payments made to the Assange Campaign International organization, which also funded extensive Assange activities in Australia, and received 3.5% of donations (i.e., 580.755 ETH).The report shows that 12,161 ETH has only been converted to a total of €16.66 million. As of the transfer date on March 13, 2022, 12,161 ETH was valued at €28.7 million/$31.2 million (now $37.1 million). This may be due to some funds being transferred during the crypto bear market without treasury management, or due to additional transaction fees.So far, AssangeDAO's 4,431.5993 ETH (now $13.54 million) funds (matching on-chain data) remain unused. Noa expressed hope and anticipation to make decisions regarding the remaining funds in full cooperation with the AssangeDAO community.ChainCatcher previously reported that AssangeDAO member Silke Noa stated that to rescue Assange, it is estimated that over 11,000 ETH ($37 million) of the 16,593 ETH raised by AssangeDAO through the purchase of "The Clock" has been used for legal defense and advocacy activities.Previously, for security reasons, it was not possible to fully disclose the allocation of funds transparently to avoid adversely affecting Julian's case. But now it is time for the Wau Holland Foundation to provide a detailed report on fund allocation.
