CESS Project Weekly Report | CD²N Node Module Development Completed, Blockchain Association Policy Summit Successfully Concluded
2024.12.09~2024.12.15
CESS , a decentralized data infrastructure, is a blockchain-based decentralized cloud storage network and CD²N network that supports online data storage and real-time sharing, providing a full-stack solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3.
CESS Network is a Layer 1 built on the DePIN concept, featuring decentralization, efficiency, security, privacy, and scalability. CESS supports large-scale commercial storage and can accommodate phenomenal decentralized applications (dApps); CESS enables the monetization of data and the free flow/sharing of data value while achieving user data privacy protection and data sovereignty returning to data owners in a trustless manner, thus constructing a prosperous, diverse, and sovereign data economy new ecosystem.
CESS Project Development
Overview
This week, issues such as consensus nodes not confirming blocks and RPC node memory leaks after the CESS chain substrate framework upgrade were discovered and fixed; this week, inconsistencies between the Master Key of some TEE Nodes and the records on the CESS chain were resolved, which had prevented storage nodes from submitting random challenge proof verification results to the CESS chain; the development work for various modules of the CD²N nodes was also completed this week, and it is about to enter the debugging and testing phase.
1. Blockchain Network
The CESS testnet v0.7.7 consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node) and serve as the "data certification station" (by TEE Worker) within the CESS network. Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and act as the "data storage pool" in the CESS network. Here are the updates for this week:
Consensus Nodes [v0.7.8]
(1) Fixed the issue of consensus nodes not confirming blocks after the CESS chain substrate framework upgrade;
(2) Fixed the RPC node memory leak issue caused by the upgrade of the substrate framework on the CESS chain;
(3) Resolved inconsistencies between the Master Key of some TEE Nodes and the records on the CESS chain;
Storage Nodes [v0.7.16]
(1) Completed stability testing for the new round of storage nodes after the CESS chain framework upgrade;
2. Products
CESS is committed to providing high-frequency dynamic data storage services and CD²N services for Web3, meeting large-scale commercial storage needs, achieving millisecond-level data retrieval and return. CESS pioneered decentralized object storage services (DeOSS), and the product ecosystem of the CESS network is gradually becoming richer and more prosperous. It has currently incubated innovative applications such as online file sharing tools (DeShare), public chain snapshot storage services, and CESS cloud storage. We welcome you to experience them. Here are the updates for this week:
Object Storage Service (DeOSS)
(1) Completed the development of all services for the new version of the gateway based on CD²N;
(2) Completed the debugging of the traffic audit and reward distribution mechanism for CD²N nodes;
(3) Adapted each module of CD²N nodes to the new cache protocol contract;
Official Website (cess.network)
(1) Upgraded the official website Pathfinder activity backend, optimizing the issue of users' transactions not confirming for a long time;
(2) Optimized the official website Pathfinder activity frontend, fixing the issue where some users could not submit data to the backend;
3. Feedback and Support
(1) Your feedback is crucial! Please submit issues in CIPs (https://github.com/CESSProject/CIPs) and share your thoughts with us! If you are interested in CESS, you can connect with developers in the CESS Developer Community (https://github.com/CESSProject), and we welcome you to share your experiences at any time!

CESS Testnet Progress
(1) According to CESS Scan (https://scan.cess.network/), as of December 15, the CESS testnet v0.7.7 Venus version has been released for 137 days, with over 8202 storage nodes successfully registered and 22 consensus nodes, providing a total storage space of 60.24 PiB, with verified storage space of 43.05 PiB. If testing users encounter issues during the node construction process, they can seek help in the official CESS Discord (https://discord.gg/cess).
(2) The latest incentive testnet Venus was officially launched on July 31, 2024! The incentive activities for the testnet are ongoing, and participating storage nodes will earn points that can be exchanged for mainnet CESS Tokens. The total incentives will be determined by the effective storage capacity of miners at the end of this version of the testnet. For detailed incentive rules, please refer to the article “CESS Officially Launches Testnet Venus, Innovating Decentralized Storage + CD²N”.
(3) The “Policy Summit 2024” Blockchain Association Policy Summit was held from December 16 to 17 at the InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. This year's summit invited many renowned speakers, including Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), former Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission J. Christopher Giancarlo, and industry elites from other fields. CESS is honored to be one of the sponsors of this summit, and we also participated in high-level discussions, showcased innovative technologies (such as AI-LINK), and promoted further cooperation with BA members.
(4) The CESS Global Ambassador Program is ongoing! More than 661 people have applied to join. Join the CESS Global Ambassador Program now to enjoy multiple benefits. For details, please click on the article “CESS Global Ambassador Program: Officially Open for Applications!”.
