Reflecting on the Milestone of CESS Testnet v0.7.6

In the soon-to-conclude CESS Incentive Testnet v0.7.6, the number of storage nodes has surpassed 10,000, marking a remarkable milestone for CESS in promoting decentralized storage. During the operation of v0.7.6, CESS has actively innovated and contributed to the standardization of the decentralized storage industry. In February, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standards organization approved CESS's request for the standard number P3233, titled “Standard for Blockchain-Based Decentralized Storage Protocol Specification”. The approval of this standard not only signifies CESS's authority and foresight in the technical field but also indicates that decentralized storage technology will move towards standardization and normalization globally. In early April, CESS attended the first council meeting of 2024 in Hong Kong as a vice council member of the “Hong Kong Web3.0 Standardization Association”, discussing and promoting the standardization process in the Web3 field with renowned enterprises and experts from various sectors.

Through several rounds of continuous updates and optimizations, we have established our foundational position in the industry, addressing a series of pain points in the decentralized storage and CD²N sectors, and striving to establish industry standards to promote the development and maturity of blockchain storage technology as a whole. Today, we are honored to announce that the Venus testnet will succeed v0.7.6, bringing a series of optimizations and updates to advance the development and application of decentralized storage technology, facilitating the entire industry towards higher standards and broader application prospects.

What Problems Does the Venus Testnet Solve, and What Impact Will It Have on the Industry?

The upcoming CESS testnet Venus not only reflects CESS's significant technological advancements but also brings profound impacts on various aspects of the industry's development, CESS's data value network, miner participation, and user experience.

From the perspective of the decentralized storage industry, the updates in the CESS testnet Venus focus on enhancing data security and storage efficiency. By optimizing the idle space proof algorithm, we have not only shortened the data processing time but also strengthened the network's security capabilities. Additionally, the Venus testnet has effectively improved the operational efficiency of storage nodes by reducing memory usage and increasing data recovery speed. These technological advancements are innovatively significant for promoting the standardization and normalization of decentralized storage technology.

From CESS's development direction, this testnet update enables CESS to better handle and manage large-scale data demands, laying a foundation for an efficient, secure, and decentralized storage network that meets the massive storage needs of the data value network CESS is committed to building. By expanding the deployment and management of storage nodes, CESS maximizes hardware resource utilization and further ensures the integrity and reliability of stored data by increasing data redundancy, which is also an innovative approach in the DePIN field. The Venus testnet enhances the network's storage capacity and processing capabilities, providing a more stable and secure storage solution for high-frequency dynamic data in the Web3 domain.

We would like to extend our special thanks to the miner partners who have actively participated in testing and accompanied CESS's growth. The launch of the Venus testnet simplifies the management and deployment process of nodes through multi-storage node deployment scripts, allowing miners to efficiently manage multiple storage nodes on a single device. The optimized reward distribution mechanism ensures more stable earnings for miners, encouraging more miners to participate in the construction and maintenance of the network. We look forward to building the standards of the decentralized storage industry together with more miner partners!

At the same time, the Venus testnet has significantly improved user experience, with new DeOSS features such as large file breakpoint resume and pluggable file storage scheduling modules, greatly enhancing the convenience and efficiency of using CESS storage and CD²N services. The newly introduced DeOSS proxy authorization feature lowers the usage threshold for users, allowing them to easily authorize CESS space usage through local signatures even without Gas.

Overall, the updates of the CESS testnet Venus not only enhance CESS's technical strength as a provider of decentralized cloud storage and CD²N services but also play an important role in advancing the entire blockchain storage industry. These advancements not only bring technical advantages to CESS but also set new high standards for data security, storage efficiency, and user experience within the Web3 ecosystem.

The reward rules for the CESS testnet Venus are as follows:

  • Storage Nodes

The total reward points for all storage nodes in the CESS Venus testnet is 60,000, corresponding to 6 million $CESS in the mainnet. The specific final points for each node are calculated based on the percentage of that node's Mining reward (TCESS). For example, if the total Mining rewards for the CESS network at the end of this round is 10 million TCESS, and storage node A has 10,000 TCESS at the end, then node A will receive 60 points this round. The test currency TCESS required for staking can be obtained from the CESS official faucet.
