In the past few months, Socrates, along with its partner Web3Debate, has successfully held more than 8 debates in Chinese and English, each of which has been exciting and closely tied to the latest topics. For example, in a debate program in early December, guests passionately discussed the topic of inscriptions, exploring the existence and development of inscriptions from different angles. In the debate, we saw similar viewpoints, such as Qin Xiaofeng, deputy editor of Odaily Planet Daily, believing that it would make the Bitcoin ecosystem more prosperous. Brenda, as the product manager of OKLink, added from a trading perspective that the current ecological development of inscriptions is very beneficial for miners and is also a good thing for the market of ordinary inscription traders.
However, regarding whether a new chain can be specifically developed for inscriptions, we saw differing opinions among the guests. Some believe that each new chain should have a new story, while others expressed reservations, arguing that a new chain might undermine the decentralization of the Bitcoin blockchain. The debaters also reminded participants to be mindful of the risks of participating in token speculation. For example, the previous Dutch tulip mania was merely a hype, and the debaters cited last year's price fluctuations of Stepn shoes, where both BSC and SOL shoes were continuously declining. Therefore, timing is essential when participating. While discussing the same overarching theme, we touched on many topics, some of which were unanimously agreed upon, while others had differing views. This diversity made the discussion very interesting.
In addition to relatively serious discussions, we also have casual debates. In a themed program discussing whether to date someone in the crypto circle, we saw a relaxed debate akin to a conversation among friends, where K-line Master and Cat Carp shared the benefits of dating within the industry, while Zoey and discountry.eth argued that not only in the crypto circle, but partners in the same industry are bound to have disputes due to work, thus leaning towards not dating within the industry. Everyone has different viewpoints based on personal experiences or the experiences of friends, and the debate was interspersed with interesting stories, making the entire program filled with joy. Who says debates must be serious? Various interesting topics are worth discussing.
In 2024, we will shift our focus back to Socrates products and SocialFi itself. We have invited several senior SocialFi players, researchers in the SocialFi track, and industry Builders to share their experiences on Socrates and discuss whether Socrates can lead the Web3 industry towards large-scale applications. Bay Area awsb co-founder Xiao Jiang stated that Socrates' UI is very beautiful, providing users with a comfortable visual experience; David, CEO of Web3 video platform Whistle, shared cutting-edge thoughts on the SocialFi track; Karana partner Tang Changlao offered valuable suggestions for Socrates—he believes that Socrates is overly "elitist" and not grounded enough; Mike, founder of GoPlus Security, shared insights from a product research perspective.
Guests provided valuable feedback based on their experiences in the SocialFi field—while it is fun and allows interaction with other Web3 users, the methods of profit (Fi) are not intuitive and quick enough. These valuable insights prompted Socrates to further enhance its products. For example, we have adjusted the original SBT Pen to the Pioneer NFT Pen, allowing users to trade unique NFT Pens as a form of incentive. Additionally, we will launch Pop Quiz, a new type of debate that lasts sixty minutes, where answers are submitted, revealed, and rewarded (if the answer is correct). These adjustments are all aimed at better meeting user needs, making Socrates a more user-friendly debate platform.
