ChainCatcher message, according to a report by TRM Labs, in the first three months of 2023, hackers stole approximately $400 million from nearly 40 cryptocurrency attacks, a 70% decrease compared to the same period in 2022. The average amount stolen dropped from nearly $30 million in Q1 2022 to $10.5 million in Q1 2023 (the number of attack incidents remained similar, around 40).

It is reported that so far, victims of hackers have recovered more than half of the stolen funds in the first quarter of 2023. TRM Labs indicates that two possible reasons for the decrease in attack amounts include the arrest of Mango Markets attacker Avraham Eisenberg by U.S. authorities and the U.S. Treasury's sanctions against the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash.
