The hackathon boosts the Ethereum Shanghai Summit, igniting imagination for the next generation of social networks this May
The first ETH Shanghai Hackathon 2022 will be held online from May 20 to June 03. We welcome all Web3 enthusiasts, followers, and developers to participate in the event, which will offer a total prize pool of over $150,000, with the highest project prize reaching $30,000.
As a parallel event of the ETH Shanghai Summit, this hackathon will focus on the theme of the next generation of social interactions, emphasizing the close connection between the internet and social responsibility, and will engage in discussions on current hot topics such as public chains, on-chain data analysis, and decentralized social networking.
Due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic, the competition aims to connect Web3 enthusiasts from around the world online, facilitating deep communication and collaboration across borders, platforms, and languages towards a common future of the internet in a world without technical boundaries. This hackathon aims to provide a platform for inspiring developers, creators, artists, and entrepreneurs to collaboratively build the next generation of Web3 social applications.
At the ETH Shanghai Hackathon, we hope to ignite developers' imaginations to collectively define the possibilities of Web3 social interactions. We have gathered cutting-edge Web3 protocol developers who will provide rich resources and SDE tools for this hackathon. Together, we will build a more open social space and create a co-managed, shared decentralized governance structure. This hackathon is supported by Gitcoin.
Early bird registration will end on May 10, and general registration will end on May 17. We encourage developers to sign up early to enjoy the Web3 educational resources, workshops, mentorship, developer/VC investor AMAs, and other benefits we offer!
If you do not have a programming background, we also welcome you to take this hackathon as an opportunity to learn about Web3 and team up with others to contribute skills in other areas (writing, design, organization, etc.).

About ETH Shanghai:
In the early days of Ethereum, Vitalik came to China to discuss and promote the vision of Ethereum with investors and developers in Shanghai. Support from Chinese investors has been an indispensable part of Ethereum's development process. To thank Shanghai for its support of Ethereum, the Ethereum Foundation named its most important upgrade ETH Shanghai. ETH Shanghai marks the final upgrade of The Merge. ETH Shanghai is committed to promoting the Ethereum network and encouraging more developers to join the Web 3.0 community to explore the impact of Web 3.0 on the future of the internet together.
Web 3.0 is a technological revolution of the internet's underlying architecture, and Ethereum has become the preferred network protocol for most developers, playing a key role in the establishment of Web 3.0 standards. The Web 3.0 Developer Summit invites intellectuals and developers to share their views and expertise on the future of the internet. The summit will discuss topics such as global collaboration in Web 3.0, Ethereum 2.0, decentralized internet, NFT art, and philosophy.
