Phi: Generate exclusive metaverse plots using ENS domain names and on-chain activities (with tutorial)

Information such as identity and transactions on the blockchain is often presented in the form of a string of numbers. By tracking someone's wallet address (on-chain identity), one can understand their on-chain behavior, which is a unique aspect of openness and transparency in the crypto world.
However, if you have ever tracked the interaction records of some addresses, you may find that the presentation filled with characters is not intuitive enough. As on-chain activities increase, important data can get buried, making it increasingly difficult to filter information. At this point, "data visualization" products highlight their advantages.
An artist named Takens Theorem has created several artworks based on on-chain data, illustrating the transaction status of some Dapps on Ethereum. The image below shows his work that projects over 10,000 NFT sales samples from nearly 1,000 collectors on the OpenSea platform over about two years onto a three-dimensional sphere (like a yarn ball nebula).
In the image, different colors represent different types of NFTs, including tickets, unlock tokens, game items, collectibles, and more. Although there is a wide variety, they are still interconnected. This form also allows us to witness the "artistic possibilities" of on-chain data visualization.
If this form can be used to create an ecosystem that shifts from data behavior to creativity and metaverse social interactions, on-chain data visualization may hold greater value.
Recently, Odaily Planet Daily has focused on an "interesting project"—Phi, which aims to build a metaverse based on ENS domains and on-chain activities.
Phi will generate a piece of virtual land based on the ENS domain, and the on-chain activities of that ENS domain (such as achievements, status, transactions, community, etc.) will be visualized into tangible objects (houses, cars, etc.). Users performing various operations on-chain will fill and decorate the corresponding land.
The project won three awards from ENS, IPFS/Filecoin, and Covalent at the ETH Global hackathon (NFTHACK2022, BuildQuest).
How Does Phi Work?
Phi has two main components: Phi Lands and Phi Objects.
(1) Phi Land: Land generated from the ENS domain. ENS can serve as your land address in this metaverse.
(2) Phi Object: Various on-chain activities, such as: token holdings (holding more than 1 ETH), token swaps (swapping 1/5/10 times on Uniswap), NFT holdings (holding 1 NFT), voting (voting more than once on Snapshot).
In this way, Phi binds various on-chain data to metaverse plots and turns these different on-chain activities into "decorations" placed on their land, allowing players to showcase their on-chain identities in a cooler way.
How to Use Phi on the Goerli Testnet?
Currently, the Phi testnet is open, and you can experience it by following these steps.
- Before you start, you need to prepare the following:

MetaMask wallet
Claim test tokens on the Goerli testnet https://goerli-faucet.mudit.blog/
- Step 1: Connect Wallet and Claim Domain
Go to the test website: https://goerli.philand.xyz/, connect your MetaMask wallet and Argent X wallet on the Goerli testnet, and claim your ENS domain.
- Step 2: Create Land
Click the "Create Philand" button and confirm the transaction. Since the project is built on the second-layer network StarkNet, it may take 10-20 minutes to transfer assets from L1 to L2.
This is what it looks like after creation:
- Step 3: Enable Land Editing Mode
Switch the mode in the top left to "Edit Mode."
- Step 4: Fill Land with On-Chain Data
Click "Claim Objects."

Then confirm the transaction in your wallet and wait for a while.
- Step 5: After claiming, you can check in "My Objects." If it doesn't show, you can refresh.
- Step 6: Drag and drop your favorite items onto your land.
- Step 7: You can click on any item, click the left arrow icon, and enter an ENS address to connect with other lands. This process also requires waiting for a while.
The plots connected to other lands will have pink edge lines appear around them, then click the save button in the bottom right corner.
- Step 8: Share (Show Off) Your Land
Click the Twitter button in the bottom right corner to share your adorable land with friends.
