OpenSea sent a letter to the SEC requesting clarification on the regulatory positioning of the NFT market
ChainCatcher news, according to Decrypt, the NFT market OpenSea has sent a letter to the SEC requesting clarification that NFT platforms should not be considered as securities exchanges or brokers. The letter was signed by OpenSea's General Counsel Adele Faure and Deputy General Counsel Laura Brookover, emphasizing that classifying OpenSea as an exchange or broker constitutes regulatory overreach.
In February of this year, the SEC terminated its investigation into OpenSea. OpenSea pointed out that it does not facilitate trades, provide investment advice, or hold user assets.
