According to the memorandum, both parties intend to collaborate on the development of a cryptocurrency and blockchain technology ecosystem in the Kyrgyz Republic. The cooperation includes providing infrastructure, technical support, expertise, and consulting services related to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, as well as conducting relevant educational activities.
The statement pointed out that the signing of this memorandum opens up new prospects for the development of the digital technology and blockchain ecosystem in the Kyrgyz Republic. This cooperation is an important step in strengthening the construction of technological infrastructure, implementing innovative solutions, and cultivating high-quality professionals in the fields of blockchain technology, virtual asset management, and cybersecurity.
Given the rapid development of global digital technology, such initiatives are crucial for sustainable economic growth and the security of virtual assets, ultimately creating new opportunities for businesses and society as a whole.
According to publicly available information, the Kyrgyz Republic has made significant progress in the cryptocurrency field in recent years, becoming a leader in digital asset regulation and market development in Central Asia, as well as a core area of the cryptocurrency industry. Since 2022, the Kyrgyz Republic has legislated and globally pioneered the "Virtual Assets Law," which clarifies the licensing system for virtual asset service providers (VASPs) and is uniformly regulated by the National Financial Market Regulation Service.
In early 2025, the Kyrgyz Republic established a national cryptocurrency exchange, becoming the first country in Central Asia to set up a national cryptocurrency exchange, testing retail payment and cross-border remittance applications through pilot projects, further consolidating its regional leadership position. Additionally, the country has introduced anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) policies to enhance transaction transparency. As of the end of 2024, there are 126 licensed VASP institutions, leading the world in the number of licensed VASPs and ranking first in Central Asia.
This collaboration between the Kyrgyz Republic and Zhao Changpeng (CZ) is expected to further strengthen its position as a regional cryptocurrency hub and enhance Kyrgyzstan's international influence in the cryptocurrency field.
