ChainCatcher news, according to the official website of Lloyds Auctions, the official code domain "XBT.com" of the Bitcoin International Organization ISO has been put up for auction, which will end on March 28, with a starting price of $2,798,917. The auction house's Chief Operating Officer Lee Hames speculates that Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and even Donald Trump may participate in the bidding.
"XBT" is the ISO 4217 currency code for Bitcoin, introduced around 2013, similar to gold (XAU) and silver (XAG). Exchanges like Kraken and BitMEX still use XBT for certain URLs and API endpoints, but switched to BTC during the last Bitcoin halving cycle.
