The auction house's Chief Operating Officer Lee Hames speculates that Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and even Donald Trump may participate in the bidding.
"XBT" is the ISO 4217 currency code for Bitcoin, introduced around 2013, similar to gold (XAU) and silver (XAG). Exchanges like Kraken and BitMEX still use XBT for certain URLs and API endpoints, but switched to BTC during the last Bitcoin halving cycle.
