Macquarie Bank: Trump's economic policies could trigger a collapse in the US stock market
ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, Macquarie Bank has warned in its latest client report that Trump's economic policies could trigger a stock market crash. Unless Trump withdraws from the trade war and cuts spending (which currently seems unlikely), actual consumer spending in the U.S. could slow significantly. As this is the most consistent signal of a bear market, we believe the risk of U.S. stocks dropping 20% from the Valentine's Day peak is increasing. The U.S. benchmark stock index, the S&P 500, has already fallen nearly 8% from last month's high, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq index has dropped nearly 12% from its peak reached last December.
