Goldman Sachs lowers S&P 500 index target for the end of 2025
ChainCatcher message, Goldman Sachs has lowered its target price for the S&P 500 index at the end of 2025 from 6,500 points to 6,200 points, reflecting the institution's adjustment of its fair forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio estimate from 21.5 times to 20.6 times, a decrease of 4%.
At the same time, it has lowered the expected earnings per share (EPS) for index constituents, with the 2024 EPS expectation reduced from $268 to $262, and the 2025 expectation lowered from $288 to $280.
