Since March 1, El Salvador has purchased 13 bitcoins
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, despite the International Monetary Fund (IMF) pressuring El Salvador to stop accumulating decentralized value storage assets, the country has still purchased 13 bitcoins since March 1.
According to the El Salvador Bitcoin Office, the country's Bitcoin reserve holds over 6,105 BTC, worth more than $527 million at current prices.
In December 2024, El Salvador reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund to obtain a $1.4 billion loan from the organization. As part of the agreement, the El Salvador government agreed to remove BTC's status as legal tender in the country and reduce public sector involvement in Bitcoin.
