Some Republican lawmakers are cautious about Musk's federal government reform plan
ChainCatcher news, according to CNN reports, although Republicans have publicly expressed support for President Trump and Musk's plan to cut federal government personnel, some Republican lawmakers are concerned that this may weaken Congress's control over federal budget authority.
The report points out that some Republican lawmakers have begun to take action, such as Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon calling for a line-item audit of the federal government instead of a wholesale cut. Minnesota Congressman Pete Stauber and Texas Congressman Pete Sessions have also held private meetings with representatives of federal employee unions.
It is worth noting that while federal government workers are primarily concentrated in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, about 80% of federal employees are distributed across other regions of the country, which means the impact of the government reform plan extends far beyond the capital area.
