ChainCatcher news, according to Protos, a kidnapped cryptocurrency trader attempted to escape by jumping from a 30-foot (approximately 9 meters) high balcony while being threatened by his captors to pay a ransom of €30,000 ($31,000) for his freedom, resulting in broken ankles.

The 34-year-old trader met with the kidnappers in Marbella, Spain, who lured him to an apartment in Estepona for drinks. Afterwards, the kidnappers abducted him and demanded that he use cryptocurrency from his client accounts to pay the ransom, or face torture.

The victim pretended to agree and made a call, claiming he was contacting a client for the necessary cryptocurrency withdrawal code. In reality, he contacted a friend, who then guided the police to the apartment where he was being held.

However, before the police arrived, the victim attempted to escape from the balcony while the kidnappers were distracted. Unfortunately, he fell, resulting in broken ankles.
