Informed sources: The UK government demands Apple to provide access to encrypted accounts
ChainCatcher news, according to The Washington Post, informed sources have revealed that UK security officials have requested Apple to establish a "backdoor" that allows the government to access all content uploaded by users to iCloud. The UK Home Office has issued a "Technical Capability Notice" to Apple, requesting relevant access permissions.
The report states that Apple may choose to stop providing encrypted storage services in the UK rather than violate its security commitments to global users. Currently, neither Apple nor the UK Home Office has commented on this. In January of this year, UK regulators launched an investigation into the operating systems, app stores, and browsers of Apple and Google.
