ChainCatcher news, the Cboe BZX Exchange has proposed to amend Rule 19.3 to allow the exchange to launch Ethereum spot ETF options trading, which is a "competing filing" based on a similar proposal submitted by the New York Stock Exchange's U.S. division that is currently awaiting approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The document specifically mentions the Bitwise Ethereum ETF, Grayscale Ethereum Trust, Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust, and "any trust holding ETH." Cboe BZX wrote in the document: "The exchange believes that offering Ethereum fund options will benefit investors by providing them with an additional, relatively low-cost investment tool to gain exposure to spot Ethereum, as well as a hedging tool to meet their investment needs in Ethereum products and positions."
