Analysis: Trump's planned call may ease market concerns about tariffs
ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, XTB analyst Catherine Brooks stated in a report that U.S. President Trump plans to hold a phone call with Canada and Mexico on Monday, which may ease market concerns about tariffs. Brooks said, "(These calls) may bring some hope for reaching an agreement, even if not now, then in the future."
She mentioned that the prospect of the calls might keep traders optimistic. The Canadian dollar and Mexican peso remain weak but have recovered from earlier multi-year lows.
However, some analysts warn that these hopes may be dashed. Analysts at ING stated in a report that (Trump) "last-minute tariff reductions" seem unlikely.
