The approval of spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) marks a watershed moment for the cryptocurrency industry. This development paves the way for institutional investors to increase their investments in the cryptocurrency space.

Following the launch of the BTC ETF, funds have also decided to push for an ETF based on Ethereum (ETH, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization).

The 13F filings review disclosed long positions in publicly traded securities, further demonstrating institutional interest in Ethereum.

These reports reveal that various investment firms (including hedge funds, family offices, and other financial institutions) hold significant amounts of cryptocurrency.

Which Institutional Funds Hold Ethereum?

13F filings are quarterly reports that institutional investment managers are required to submit to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), providing valuable insights into institutional holdings.

Compared to traditional assets, these documents offer a unique perspective on how institutions are participating in Ethereum.

As of January 31, 2025, the total inflow for the ETH ETF reached $2.73 billion, with outflows from Grayscale putting downward pressure on it. Notably, several ETF holders have yet to disclose their 13F filings.

Here is the complete list of institutional holders of the Ethereum ETF (as of filings on January 31, 2025):
