Vitalik: Groth16 should be abolished as soon as possible, and significant improvements are needed in infrastructure and the standardization of new SNARK algorithms

ChainCatcher message, Vitalik Buterin posted on X stating: "One of the many things we need to accelerate is the abolition of Groth16. Trust setups for every application are not feasible in the 2020s. At least there should be a universal setup, ideally no setup at all. This requires significant improvements in infrastructure and the standardization of new SNARK algorithms."

It is reported that the Groth16 algorithm is an algorithm published by Jens Groth in 2016. The advantages of this algorithm are the small number of proof elements provided (only 3 are needed), simple verification equations, and reliability under integrity and polynomial computation capabilities.
