She criticized Tether's connections to sanctioned entities and emphasized broader concerns.

Howard Lutnick will not directly oversee cryptocurrency regulation, but the department has released reports on industry regulation. Additionally, there are views that Lutnick's close relationship with Trump could have an impact, as his company's client Tether is facing intense scrutiny from U.S. regulators and investigators. Warren stated, "I am deeply concerned about Lutnick's past work with a company that was investigated for its connections to sanctioned entities, including Russian arms dealers and North Korean nuclear weapons programs. The Secretary of Commerce should fight for the interests of the United States, not for his own personal interests or those of former clients that undermine our national security."
