ChainCatcher news, according to Cryptoslate, Microsoft filed a lawsuit on January 10 in the Eastern District of Virginia to combat cybercrime that abuses generative artificial intelligence technology. The lawsuit targets a foreign threat organization accused of bypassing AI service security measures to create illegal content.

Microsoft's Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) stated that the defendants developed tools to illegally access generative AI services using stolen customer credentials and resold modified AI capabilities, complete with instructions for malicious use.
